January 2010, architects Sandra Beer and Rusty Herron kicked off the new
decade by merging their individual interests in architectural design into the
professional entity of Lo-Fi Architecture, pllc.
Having each had their
own successful careers working for notable architecture firms in
California, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Texas, Sandra and Rusty
developed this collaborative enterprise
in order to pursue their own original ideas concerning the built
environment. Lo-Fi Architecture is a new office formed upon the collective experience
of its founders and is aimed at delivering innovative work, created through
methodical research and exploration.
Sandra and Rusty both believe that the process of making architecture is
just as gratifying, if not more so, than the final built work.
Lo-Fi is an abbreviation of low fidelity. The name Lo-Fi Architecture
is analogous to lo-fi sound recordings that are produced by analog
recording and processing techniques, in contrast to more clarified sounds or images
recorded through high fidelity equipment. Comparatively, Lo-Fi Architecture is a
young, open-minded practice, whose philosophy on architecture is not yet honed,
but is still being discovered and shaped.
